Recently, Food Daily published an article on emerging dessert trends, highlighting a noticeable shift toward nut-forward, artisanal pastries. The report emphasizes that consumers now seek desserts that are not only indulgent but also visually striking and sophisticated. As the article states: “Hazelnut-based desserts are increasingly favored by consumers seeking both indulgence and elegance in everyday treats.” This aligns perfectly with Hazelnut Crema’s signature dacquoise, which combines delicate layers of airy meringue with rich hazelnut flavor, creating a dessert that is both classic and contemporary.
The article also notes the growing influence of social media on dessert trends. Beautifully plated, shareable creations inspire home bakers and elevate the standards for professional pastry chefs. Online engagement has made it easier for dessert makers to showcase intricate techniques, from perfectly piped cream layers to precisely toasted hazelnuts, while educating audiences about flavor balance and presentation.
Hazelnut Crema has embraced these trends by offering seasonal variations and experimenting with creative plating that remains true to the traditional French dacquoise recipe. By combining artisanal craftsmanship with modern visual appeal, these desserts meet the expectations of contemporary audiences who value both taste and experience.
This trend highlights a broader movement in the bakery industry: consumers increasingly desire indulgent desserts that can be enjoyed anytime, not just for special occasions. Recipes that balance texture, flavor, and aesthetic appeal resonate with both home bakers and pastry enthusiasts.

One of my favourite places to unwind is Hawrelak Park in Edmonton. The lakeside views, peaceful walking paths, and open fields make it ideal for a picnic after long baking sessions. To get there, follow Groat Road north and take the park entrance. The main picnic areas are beside the large lake near the central parking lot, perfect for enjoying fresh pastries outdoors and taking in the serene surroundings.
